Dates from the official sources, Vienna time. The university's own information always decides.
In short
If you prepare alongside a job, plan backwards from your official sitting. For the Stichprobentest the date is largely set for you: the MedUni Vienna Merkblatt says you sit it, as a rule, at the next possible date after you apply, and you can take it only once. For the SIP, MedUni Vienna's registration form says you take every prescribed part at the same sitting. So spread your subjects over the weeks you have and leave none out, because each one is scored on its own.
What is fixed
The MedUni Vienna Merkblatt says you sit the Stichprobentest, as a rule, at the next possible date after you apply, and that you can take it only once. That means the day you file your application also decides how much preparation time you get.
For the SIP, every part your decision (Bescheid) prescribes is taken at the same sitting, and incomplete or late registrations are not considered. Put the sitting and the registration deadline in your calendar before you plan a single study week.
Every subject counts on its own
In the Stichprobentest, the Merkblatt says a field is passed when at least 60 percent of its questions are answered correctly. In the SIP, MedUni Vienna sets its own 60 percent threshold for each block and each tertial. A strong subject does not make up for a weak one, and what follows the Stichprobentest depends on how many fields reach 60 percent.
For your plan that means: give every subject time, the small ones too, and start with the ones you feel least sure about.
A weekly plan when time is short
With only a few hours a week, a fixed routine helps. One way to set it up:
- Pick your official sitting and count the weeks until then.
- Be honest about how many hours a week your job and family leave you.
- Spread the subjects across those weeks so that every subject gets its turn.
- Practise in short sessions on working days and one longer session at the weekend.
- Keep the last weeks for review and practice against the clock.
How MedPrüf fits in
MedPrüf's study plan spreads the topics of your question bank across the weeks up to your official sitting. You choose the sitting and how many hours a week you can study; you do not need an account. The practice questions are curated and are not official exam questions. They are in German, like the exams, and the explanations can be machine-translated into several languages.
Your next step
Pick your official sitting and your study hours a week. The study plan spreads the topics of your question bank over the weeks up to the exam, no account needed.

Can I move my Stichprobentest to a later sitting?
The MedUni Vienna Merkblatt says you must, as a rule, sit it at the next possible date after you apply. Ask your university about exceptions.
Can I take my SIP parts at different sittings?
No. MedUni Vienna's registration form says every part your Bescheid prescribes must be taken at the same sitting.
Is it enough to study the big subjects thoroughly?
No. The Stichprobentest scores each field separately against 60 percent, and the SIP does the same for each block and tertial. Plan time for every subject.
Are MedPrüf's practice questions in English?
No, they are in German, the language of the exams. The explanations can be machine-translated into several languages, so you can check a point in the language you think in.
